What is an Elopement?
The definition of an elopement is...
An intimate and casual wedding experience where the focus is on the couple in a location that isn't traditional. You might be thinking to yourself, "hmmm, I thought elopement meant running away to get married." In the past, this was the definition of elopement but more and more couples are breaking from tradition and getting married however they want! Couples are choosing to make their wedding about themselves and the things they love most.
What does an elopement look like?
An elopement can be whatever you want it to be. It allows couples to choose what is important to them and the things they love. Is the lake your favorite spot as a couple? Do you love hiking the mountains? Does the architecture of the local courthouse make you smile? Is it important that your dogs be part of the ceremony? Elopements can take place in any location you desire and incorporate the things that matter the most. They can span the entire day or just a few hours. Family and close friends can join you, or if you prefer to keep it super intimate it can be just the two of you. Say your vows on top of the mountain or under a waterfall. This day is all about you and the memories you will cherish forever when you look back on this incredible time in your life!
How do we know if an elopement is right for us?
Have you thought about what your dream day looks like? Do you envision tradition or are you imagining something a little different? I encourage you to sit down and write out what each day would look like. Paint a picture in your head of both days and really visualize what it might look like. One of these will speak to you more than the other! At this point it is time to start planning your dream day!
